Surprise in the Hole

Meee-ow it’s been a couple of days but I have a really good reason for that.  Remember how Barney and I were doing some serious digging.  We came across not just a couple of happy pups who were barky and bouncy to see us but there was something else that was bad.  It looked like there was a whole bunch of animals down there!

And I’m not meowing about other dogs or cats…

There were a couple of dead tigers down there and a dead cat with a real, puffy kind of face.  He was gray and had a stubby tail.  I was just so surprised to see this that my brain seemed like it froze.  I wasn’t sure what it was!  Barney knew right away though he said it was a lynx.

After Barney and I kind of let what we saw sink in we popped back up into the light unsure what to tell everybody.  All of the cats were just kind of waiting and they really seemed like that they found a lot when we were down there too.  I saw more cats, some bulldogs, a husky and even a pony!  They were all looking at Barney and me like we discovered magic catnip.

“Well,” Baby said, “what happened?  I thought after the dogs came out you’d be up.”
She was speaking of the bulldog puppies who happened to be named Chester and Clyde.  They were looking at Barney and me like we were Santa Paws or something.  My whiskers started twitching and I didn’t meow out anything.

Smokey was getting impatient.  “What was down there?”  she asked.

“You are never going to believe this,” said Barney.

Barney didn’t have to continue and guess why?  Daisy had to paw over and look into the pit and she started screaming really loud!
