Just a paws today, a lot of you might have seen it but it's all over the blogs today bepaws it's well-written, appropriate and well all of us kitties really liked it. Our pal Lou, a gray kitty by the way who runs www.livelovemeow.biz, wants to share his views about the Boston Marathon.
Hi Anipals! Lou here.
This week, I'd like to meow about what had happened in Boston, and this cat's take on it.
It's been an unusual week, to say the least. When the Boston Marathon comes, there is disruption as the Marathon gets set up. There are many preparations. Then, the running. I have seen it on the news every year since I was just a few weeks old, and have heard Human Mom and her Human friends all joking about the importance of staying out of Boston on the day of the Boston Marathon because it gets messy in Boston on that day.
But this year, there was a whole lot of extra disruption and mess in Boston, as a bomb went off near the finish line. There has been, to say the least, much discussion among the Humans. It's this discussion that is very telling about what some Humans really believe, and think.
There are some Humans, that, in the face of this tragedy, that have chosen to focus on the evil in the heart of those responsible, and who have chosen to focus on the evil in other Human acts, and who have chosen, as a default response, to see more of the darkness, the Evil, that lurks in the heart of some Humans.
There are other Humans, however, who have chosen to focus on the Light and doing what needs to be done in the face of Evil. This is not to discount the Evil that was done, not at all.
Choosing to focus on the Light simply means facing that there is, and that there are problems, and Evil, both immediate and long term in the world, and choosing to not let it overwhelm them.
Choosing to focus on the Light means that there are solutions to be found to problems and going out and finding those solutions even when you might not have the foggiest idea what that solution might be.
St. Francis of Assisi, said it best, I think.
- Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
- Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
- Where there is injury, pardon;
- Where there is doubt, faith;
- Where there is despair, hope;
- Where there is darkness, light;
- Where there is sadness, joy.
